TEXT MESSAGE MARKETING - GETTING MORE SIGN UPS
THE BEST WAY
So you had customers signing up left and right when you first started your Text Message Marketing program, but now only a few sign up here and there? Or maybe you're doing okay on sign ups, but you would still like to see improvement?
The number one way to get more sign ups is to get your staff re-involved. Generally what happens is the staff will tell people about the program for the first few weeks. Then they begin forgetting here and there, until soon, they don't ask at all. Sure, you have signs up, but having the staff simply point out the program can increase your sign ups 30-50%! We've seen it!
One way to get the staff engaged again is to have a contest with them for who can get the most people signed up. Of course it would have to be on the honor system, but creating that healthy competition could do wonders. Another way to have a similar effect is to have it be a group competition where everyone gets a prize (like a pizza party) if a certain number of people sign up within a given time.
Just be sure to remind the staff how important the program is to the business. The more people on the list, the more people will see the offers, and the more people will come in and purchase products of services. That's good for everyone!
NEW INITIAL OFFER
Your agent probably helped you choose an initial offer that would appeal to the greatest majority of your customers. Still, if your sign ups have slowed down more than you're happy with, it may be time to look at having a new initial offer. Remember the initial offer is the prize/reward the customer gets for opting in.
Changing the initial offer, along with the signage might catch the attention of some customers that haven't signed up yet. Just keep in mind that your new customers haven't seen your existing initial offer yet. We believe that if your initial offer had success in the beginning, There may be no need to change it unless you come up with a possible better offer. Talk to your agent if you feel it might be time to change your initial offer.
* Provided your initial offer worked well originally, we suggest keeping the same offer for at least a year.
RUN A CUSTOMER CONTEST
Running a contest can definitely get you new subscribers. We feel the best place to run a contest is on social media. You can put up a sign in the store as well, but we don't suggest having your existing offer and the contest displayed at the same time. So either keep your existing sign in the store and run a contest on social media, or take down your existing sign and put up a new contest sign for a bit.
WEBSITE POP UPS
Website pop ups are a great tool. Have you ever been to a website and after a few minutes, a "pop up" asks you to enter your email address to receive something? This is the same thing except instead of asking for an email address, we're going to ask customers to opt in to your text program.
Customers are already on your site, which means they have some interest in coming to your location or purchasing your product or service. A pop up gives them that added incentive or "push" they need to take action.
Most websites have the ability to have a pop up. contact your website rep for assistance with this. They will need some information and permission from you to do this.
*Note: Consider including a QR code in the pop up to make it easier for your customers to sign up!
