TEXT MESSAGE MARKETING - GETTING MORE RESPONSES

DON'T BE CHEAP!

The bottom line is people respond to offers based on how good a deal it is. On average, 20% of the people who see your offer should take action on it. If you're not seeing enough people come in for the offer, it's very likely because the offers are not enticing enough.

We're not saying to give away the store here, but we are saying to know your costs and determine how much of a discount you can afford to give during a given time. For example, if your restaurant or store is empty. It might be a good time to offer a buy one get one free deal or 50% off deal. With big offers, it's perfectly okay to limit it to only a few hours or maybe a day. Remember, making a smaller profit is better than making no profit!

TRACK YOUR SUCCESS

We highly suggest tracking your responses to offers in your point of sale system. It's great to "tag" your offers that are specific to your Text Message Marketing so you can review it and see the system is working for you. It's also a good idea to track which offers work best.

Perhaps start off by running a 15% special. Then maybe next week do the same special at 20% or 30% to see how big the difference is. Now you can know what offers work best, and at what discount level.

You'll noticed in the example, we started at 15%. People really don't get excited or take action much on 5% and 10% off specials.

Try giving a dollar amount off. In some cases you will get better results than a percentage off.

Just remember to track results to see what works. Then do it again and again!

GET CREATIVE

People like new and creative things. So you can increase the response to your offers by making them interesting. You can use interesting and fun wording, but also maybe throw out a few fun offers too. How about offering a "Bring a new VIP member special",  where you offer a good discount to your customer if they bring someone new to sign up as a VIP Text Club member. If that sounds like a lot to include in a text message, remember you can link pictures to your text messages or link to websites or a Facebook post.

Maybe have your customers bring in an interesting item for a great discount, or maybe wear your team's jersey or a funny hat. You can promote that on Facebook or do a Facebook live presentation to bring excitement to your business. Excitement attracts people! Talk to your staff and/or your agent to get input on creative ideas you can implement.

Text Message Marketing is one of the absolute best forms of marketing today. However, you can substantially increase your results if you pay a little attention at least in the beginning stages. Once you see what's most effective, it will become second nature to send out messages that give you the results you're looking for.
